Members of the Leadership Group

Introducing the team behind OHTA

The members of the OHTA Leadership Group are all active occupational hygiene professionals who give their time voluntarily to improve standards of occupational hygiene around the world. You can often meet them in person at national and international hygiene conferences and they all welcome the chance to talk more about OHTA.

is a past president of the British Occupational Hygiene Society and member of the UK government's Advisory Committee on Toxic Substances (ACTS). He is currently employed by BP, a global energy company.

Steve Bailey

is a past president of the British Occupational Hygiene Society and former Chief Executive of the UK National Occupational Hygiene Service Ltd.  He is experienced in the lead industry, in consultancy, and now works in pharmaceuticals with GlaxoSmithKline.

Ross Di Corleto

Ross Di Corleto is a past president of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists and has over 30 years experience in industry. He is currently employed by Rio Tinto which is a global mining and resources company.

John Dobbie

has been actively involved in the development of OHTA since its conception. He is an occupational hygienist with 30 years experience across a range of industries and geographic regions. He is currently employed by BP, a global energy company.

Ruth Jimenez Saavedra

Ruth Jimenez Saavedra is the current president of the Spanish Association of Industrial Hygiene. She has wide experience in Occupational Hygiene in UK and Spain. She participates in several working groups within the European Commission, the National Commission for Health and Safety at Work and national and European standardisation bodies. With an academic background in Chemistry and Biology, she also holds an MBA and cooperates with the OHlearning marketing group.

Phil Johns

Phil is lead editor for OHTA.  He has been actively involved in the development of the training materials, authoring and piloting two of the modules. He is a Chartered Chemist and Occupational Hygienist with over 20 years experience in consultancy and as a tutor at all levels from awareness training to Masters level. Phil is currently employed by Gully Howard Technical as Course Director.

Nancy McClellan

Nancy McClellan is a past director and committee chair for the ABIH Board of Directors, and currently serves as ABIH liaison to OHLearning.com and the Joint IH Ethics Education Committee of AIHA.  She has 19 years experience in developing consulting businesses, as Business Health Systems, Inc., in multiple states throughout the United States.  She has provided occupational hygiene evaluation and control services to the automotive, military, hospital, circuit board, food, pharmaceutical, chemical, furniture and banking industries.

is currently Chief Examiner of BOHS and is Principal Lecturer in Occupational Health and Safety at the University of Greenwich, London, UK.

Jakob Naerheim

Jakob Nærheim is the current IOHA representative on the Leadership Group and sits at the IOHA board. He is a past president of the Norwegian Occupational Hygiene Association and has some 15 years experience from different positions as occupational hygienist and manager, mainly in the oil and gas industry. He is currently employed by Statoil and the Norwegian Oil and Gas Industry Association.

David O'Malley

is the Registrar of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene, which is the examining body for occupational hygiene in the UK and part of BOHS. David also acts as the link between the Leadership Group and the Qualifications Group. He runs his own consultancy, Genesis Environmental.

Charles Steer

is the current President of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists.  He has a background in occupational hygiene, chemical technology, environment and occupational health and safety - originally in the electricity industry in South Australia. He runs his own consultancy, Health with Safety Pty Ltd mainly focused on heavy industry including mining.
